does anyone know where i might be able to get one for cheap? i'm been looking around and the price is basicly set at 199, and there's nothing on e-bay currently. if anyone has one and is willing to sell it, we could talk business or something. thanks a lot.
 
try searching for a DMP2.
basically the same thing..just not as cool looking, no -10db cut (so you'll need some mic pads for sure), and no fancy VU meter. Sounds good though, and cheaper no doubt.
 
You can't buy it cheap on line. You actually have to grind some balls at Guitar Center.-Richie
 
The last guitar center I went to was out of them. They said they were no longer being made. There is the new upgrade that recieves its power from the usb port. So that totally sucks for me, since I dont use a computer to record. All you guys with the soundcards benefit though.
 
It's worth $199...

and probably more! The GC's within my area are sold out, so I ordered one from zzounds for $199. No tax and free shipping, for what that's worth. Nice preamp, great connectivity (balanced, unbalanced, HiZ, LoZ) and very quiet. Once I got the DMP3, I couldn't believe how noisy the preamps were on my MD multitracker!

glad to hear the positive reports on the DMP3.

I purchased a DPM3 and am waiting on UPS.

This weekend I returned a expensive mic(trying to upgrade the sound), and tried out a
little tube pre-amp, Presonic and a TC reverb unit.....with my SM57

i was blown away, seriously. the difference was WOW..
what i was looking for!

i'll return the presonic when the DPM3 arrives, its 2 channels for about the same price as a single.......and gets better reviews here.

the TC reverb is great...but for a little more maybe a Lexicon MPX200 which is more flexible and has compression built in.

I would have never guessed a pre-amp made that much difference.
 
Just a hint- The TC Electronics M300 has balanced analog outs, digital out, and a compressor. It is $50 cheaper than the MPX200, and is easier to use. I believe it is a better FX box across the board than the Lexicon. On the other hand, I'd get an RNC for a compressor, and use the M300 for an FX unit.-Richie

The TC is sweet sounding.

But...I was enjoying the slapback echo/engine 1....
but then I realized I'd like to have the compression on also (and maybe get by for awhile without buying the RNC),
but this is Engine 1 also?
Then I saw the De-Esser and this was Engine 1 also??

Is it possible to use these effects simultaneously on the TC??
 
I have found the M300 to be one of the best boxes I have used for cheap. It's simple to use, could have better clip indicators, is a
fair (not GOOD) A-D converter. The 'verbs are very usable, and it's not the worst compressor in the world. Balanced outs, programmable. What convinced me though, were the owner's manuals. I went to GC and had them open boxes and just read the Lexicon and TC User guides. Wow! I actually could understand the M300's manual without a masters in systems science! Well the box has been very good to me. It has been pressed into service as an A-D converter, and mostly used as a 'verb for vocal overdubs onto other people's songs, and I have found it very versatile. The Lexicon and TC boxes both sound good, but different, like different mics. For $200, I can't bitch.-Richie

I just ordered one from digitraxx...$185 no tax/no ship.
I hope mine has a wall wart...or I'll be out 20% restocking fee!

USB power now that would suck for me.

...are they(industry) trying to force all of us old cronies into computer, 64+ track digital recording, with buit-in effects and editing? it's a conspiracy...ssshhhh

I love my Mdisc 8 tracker.....but when it dies...most likely computer bound. Maybe they'll make a mouse with Play and Record buttons?
 
They already make a mouse with 3 extra buttons that you can assign to do any task on your computer. In this day and age, everyone is using these computer things.
 
Yo Jblount! You still looking for a cheap DMP3? I'm pretty sure the Natick, Mass GC has got one in the box, on the wall. They already sold me one for $119.99 (I didn't fight over the 0.99 cents). You pay the shipping, and any insurance you desire, and I'd be willing to shake them down for you, just 'cause I'm that kind of guy. Besides, I like screwing with GC. Whaddya think?-Richie

I just unpacked a DMP3 for $185 total..from digitraxx!!

I am a newbie,.....$119+shipping....hell, that kinda savings would have paid for a SP B1 @$79....

Did sell one of my 3630's for $70..that helped.
