I've been looking at the specifications for the M-Audio DELTA 410(now discontinued), Audiophile 2496, Delta 1010LT.

Obviously there are many factors that determine a card's quality, however, I am wondering how much a factor a card's (in this case the above mentioned cards) specified dynamic range affects actual quality.

It seems that with regard to specs, the M-Audio Delta 410 and Delta 1010LT both have a dynamic range of only:

Output:101.5 (A-weighted)
Input:99.6 (A-weighted)

Whereas the Audiophile 24/96 has:

Output: 104 (A-weighted)
Input: 100.4dB (A-weighted)

This is interesting to me as the 1010LT (currently) and the 410 (in the past) were set to be more expensive cards. I thought that perhaps the 410 was older than the 24/96, since it's been discontinued, but it seems that all the Delta 410 PCI cards I've seen are marked 2001 whereas the 24/96's are marked 2000.

And I know that both the 24/96 and 410 are excellant cards, but I've been recently asked by a friend how they stack up to the likes of an Audigy Platinum Pro with it's stated specifications (I have disuaded him, as I myself am no fan of CL).

Can anyone shed some light on the actual performance of the Delta 410,24/96 and 1010LT?

I heard you can't bother with the M-Audio specs cause they are fake. Apparently, they boost up their specs to make it look better than it really is. I remember reading that somwhere.

I'd be very interested in seeing that.

I've read that about the old SP5b monitors but not about any of the sound cards.
