I just bought an M-Audio 410 interface for my computer and keyboard. I hooked up the M-audio to my keyboard using the quarter inch audio cables, and also using the midi cables. The interface communicates to my computer using firewire. I hooked up my studio monitors to the audio device ports 1 and 2. The store I bought the interface from told me that the device will eliminate most of the lag I was experiencing in recording but it didn't happen that way. Anyone know how to correct latency problems during playing or recording? Also I want to have sound outputed to my studio monitors on recordings only, and not also when I use my computer for general purposes.
The laptop is a Sony Vaio 3.06 Ghz Pentium 4 with 512 mb Ram running on XP.
