And just for something different, try out a Pignose too. Solid state, TINY, cheap, great for grungy rock tones. Easy as pie to record them. Frank Zappa is the most famous studio user, but he's not the only one.

You owe it to yourself to try out the new Kustom Coupe line. The best thing I've heard from a tube since my H & K. I jusat bought another '36 Coupe to use in stereo, they really are that good. They go for 450 - 600 for the 36 watter and around 800 for the 72, also a head version

I tried one out. It wasn't my thing at all.

I'm surprised, it really sounds great with my LP or 6120 or Strat or Tele, doesn't do acoustic well..

Then again, it'd be weird if we all liked the same amp.....

i love my handwired ga-5 gibson les paul jr amp. play it with a p-90s gibson and you will hear ome of the coolest 3D tones.

its perfect for recording with any guitar.

Carvin Vintage 16.

Switchable to 5 watts.

The Crate V16 kills it! ;) No question. The problem with the Carvin V16 is the cabinet is way too small. It does have a ton of mod potential though.

I know this thread is pretty dead, but I just got back from my local music store and I played the brand new Valbee from Ibanez, I was blown away, :p I played it right after playing a bassman, and I almost thought I was still playing the same amp (ok, it's not AS good, but pretty damn close) verry clean, and you can press the boost for a bit of crunch. amazing for blues. I highly advise this amo. not shure what the USD price is though.

cheers

Pignose GA-40 has 40 watts,3 ea 12ax7's and a pair of 6L6's in the output. You can sub in 6V6's to drop power to 18 watts. I installed a 12" scorpion speaker in mine and the amp just sings...

5E3 style amp....get an original Fender if you are lucky or have deep pockets.

I had a guy in the studio here with one of those. Definately a sweet amp.
