Hi.

I 've began building up my small home studio and i am stuck in deciding what mic or mics to buy. I need mic\mics for recording guitar amp, acoustic guitar and vocals. I can get AKG, Fostex and studio projects mic for 30% discount so it would be helpful to sugest mics of these brands. I don't want to spend more than 180 euro (or 200 $)(with the discount). Also can you give me your opinion on:

1.AKG perception 100 or th 200
2.Fostex MC10 ST (two electret conseders)(ican get them for less than 120$)
3.Studio projects b3
4.Studio projects c1

Sorry if my english are bad :)

I didn't even know that Fostex made condensers. I can't find anything about them though other than sales pages. Studio Projects C1 is okay, not really my cup of tea. If you've got a decent pre amp, I would buy a ribbon mic. It'd sound wonderful on vocals, acoustic and electric guitar.

The perception 200 seems to be a pretty good mic, I've heard a lot of good things. It also has pad/rolloff. If you need multiple patterns (cardioid, figure 8, omni) than the b3 is prolly the only mic that will do it in that price range. Really just depends on your usage I guess.

I've heard a lot of great reviews on the C1 as well, tho many say it's too bright for their taste.

About 35 years ago, I believe.

It's been my understanding that the B3 is a more versatile mic and better bang for the buck in your price range. I don't have one though.

Dont rule out MXL's and the JoeMeek's for a-guitar and drum overheads.

I own a DMP3. Ribbon mic? How much do they cost? Perception 100 costs 60 euros less than the 200. DMP 3 has a bass cut so i don't need the one on the perception 200, is that right? Also, can i live without the preattenuation pad? Between SP C1 and the perception 100/200 which is the best for the use i want? Any thoughts about the fostexs? Are conseders with small diaphragm suitable for recording voice, acoustic guitar and electric guitar cab? Don't forget i get a pair for less than 120 euros!!!!
