The AKG C1000S takes a 9V and is low cost ... but other than that I can't really recommend it.

I don't know what you plan to use it for but you could get a battery powered condenser made for video cameras. I don't know how well they work but alot of them are in the $100-200 range. My friends are huge video guys (skate videos) so they are always looking into that kind of stuff. Maybe check out a video equipment site online.
