BTW,

If that is an Art Tube MP you are talking about, if you are doing vocals you will still need it....and if you wanna sell it, youll have no problem finding someone here to take it off your hands for a respectable price......

Gidge,

I think I blew the tube in my MP, you know where I can get a new one? And how much are they?

hey, that's really Good guitar/bass work. i did ignore the drums.
do u know u sound like weird al yankovich? my stuff is FAR more atmospheric....which i like but it was a fluke to begin with.
hey, maybe i can nag u for some guitar tips!
although i'm obviously not into your style.
one thing....do u get days or stetches where it seems like u just can't play that good or even be creative? i've been playing off&on for 10 years but today i feel like i suck.
i should just drop this but; i'm into mysticism and all that....so i try to get "in that zone" and catch my inspirations on record. ALL of my tracks are like this. i write nothing... ALL of it is off the top.
it's working but i could never play live that's for sure!

Yeah, we've been compared to weird Al many times, which is no insult since he is one of our band's influences. Be glad to help out however I can. I get those "dry spells" all the time, where my creativity hits a brick wall, and the stuff I play is incredibly average and unoriginal, and I just can't play for shit. Then there are the reverse, those days I play so incredibly clean and I feel like the instrument is a part of my body. You know, I think this is a general musician thing, because I played trumpet in high school, and almost always had a similar problem. Some days you can warm up and do exercise all you want, but it just ain't happenin'..... then other days, you can pick the instrument up and play better than you ever did (note: I don't think I ever had a single one of those "good" days hit on the day of an important performance ;) ).

ah, thanx i needed that! 'tis true....it's a mind AND body thing. do u go as far as playing the correct Mode over certain chords? or just pick some related chords (progression duh) and stay in that key? and do u know if there's a riff etc. video by/of malmsteen?

You know, I took a couple years of music theory, and I found that in some ways, it actually hurt me than helped. They teach all these traditional "rules" that I found can really stifle creativity. I keep finding myself saying, "Wait, I can't do that.. that's a retrogression...."

Lately, I've been trying to free my mind of that with the old HR creed:

"If it sounds good, it IS good."

I wish now I had just taken the first couple of months for the eartraining and intervals, which I found quite helpful.

Not sure about Malsteem, though.. I'm not even sure who they are, honestly. Who are they?

yngwie malmsteen the neo-classical guitarist (read shredder). no matter.....hey, u keep saying stuff that i've always agreed with in my heart. alas, at this time i'm in the middle of learning theory. but like u said, Intervals and if it sounds good it is good......i love invoking goetic entities into my consciousness then going into a chromatic rage! kidding...kinda.
i heard Al Y. being interviewed and he seems very intelligent. peace man
