I have been working on a mix for about 10 hours or so.
When I opened the mix up today for 1 song, half of the Right channel on a stereo track(drum overheads) was missing and filled in with a line.

the places it is misses there were a few cuts here and there and elastic audio changes.

I tried remove the elastic audio and reverting and commit, this did not help. I also tried the trim tool to "reveal" the missing session.

I also tried re-linking. nothing has worked so far.

I did not delete or re-record over this half of a half of a stereo.

Any idea anyone?

try finding the original file in the region bin...not just the clip, but the originally recorded file.
you can also try re-importing it from the audio files folder.

If I understand correctly though, If I made multiple edits to the file and did not consolidate it, won't there be multiple files?

thanks,

Jon

yeah there will be, but I'm saying pull the original file out and see if you still have the audio. Just drag it to a new play list. You might have to go back in and re-edit though....but at least you'll still have your audio in tact. Better than having to re-record.

Does the audio play back? If you're judging just by waveform it could be fine.
I've had the problem of hearing the sounds, seeing the meters move to blank
waveforms... Strange stuff.

Also, try open an earlier session file backup to see if it's there.

When that happens, delete your Pro Tools waveforms folder.

It's contained in the folder of the project you're working on.

When you next load that project, Pro Tools will recalculate all wave forms.

I am traveling right now so I only have a laptop.
Are you refering to the waveform cache file? or is there a folder called waveforms?

Ooops slip of the tongue, got momentarily confused with the audio fades folder.

Yeah delete the waveform cache.

no dice...looks like i'll have to re edit

it seems like this has happened to 5 songs.
i am just going to commit afterwards from now on.

Have you checked any of your protools session backup files? I know mine autosaves a backup every 15 minutes or so. It might be worth looking into. If it's in a backup session, you can just import the data that is missing into your current session. Sorry if I stated the obvious.
