Yeah, if you see it lyin' around - it's mine.

I recorded a live band a couple weeks ago and must have left it there at the venue. It's way the hell out of my way so I figure I can just replace it at the local swap meet.

If you have one of these, can you look at the power supply label and tell me the specs? All I know is that it's a 9vac.

I don"t know what the Power requirements are of your audio Buddy but I suspect that if you get a 9v adapter with interchangeable ends on it that is Rated at 1 amp Max then it should be able to supply plenty of Power for your Preamp....

Actually I just looked on Line at the PDF Manual for the audio Buddy and it takes a 9v 500 milliamp AC power adapter so you should be able to Find one of these Very easilly , You might even have one laying arround the House from an Old Phone or or answering machine..

Just as Long as it is a 9v AC adapter that supplies at least 500 milliamps of current which is extremely Common in adapters....

It is actually a Little strange that is accepts AC and not DC unless it has it"s own Bridge Rectifier and Power filtering Curcuit built into the Audio Buddy which is understandable as most DC power supplies are pretty noisey.....

Cheers

Well I never did find a power supply at the swap meet after looking through great heaps of them. Several times.

I'm gonna need one soon so I called GC and the guy says they don't have them in stock but they should real soon. And they're 9vAC 1000mA, not 500mA. But my user guide says 500mA and the back of the box says 300mA.
The m-audio web site says the Audio Buddy takes a 9vAC 500mA adapter, but the 1000mA unit is a replacement for it.

I'm no electrician so before I go and ruin the dang thing, does that sound right?

It sounds like M-audio is putting out a Lot of misleading info about the power requirements of this unit....I highly doubt that it uses 1 amp because that is a lot of current for just a preamp, My 15w Tube amp only uses up 700ma but at a Much higher voltage.....

If they say 1amp then any 9v at 1amp will work but I suspect that 500ma would also work just fine but I guess it is better to be safe than sorry.....

So it doesn"t matter if the adapter is too big but it does matter if it is too small......

:D
