Does it tell you what the exact error is?
Have you gone into the BIOS and looked at the settings?
In the BIOS there may be a setting such as Load default or optimal settings.

I wish it said something like that...

this don't make any sense to me, all of these problems started when I needed to upgrade my harddrive, then Maxtor told me to upgrade my power supply and another problem arose from this,... Each time I change something, a problem occurs!

Yeah man .... thats crazy. I've built many computers and changed several PSU and never once have I gotten an error from simply swapping out a PSU.
I'd stick the old PSU back in ... if you no longer get the boot error, I'd take the Antec back. As it's always possible to get a bad unit. Though Antec is very reputable, I guess it's possible they screw up too.

I can see how adding the new drive could cause problems with the power supply, as it is requiring more demand from the PSU to run that one more device. Seeing as you always had two drives, my only guess is the new drive you got draws just enough more current than the old one to put a strain on the 300 watt PSU.

I'm not convinced that it's the PSU. In fact, if it's up to specs, i'm pretty sure it's not. I'm running dual hard-drives w/ CDRW/DVD and a CDRW on an 1800 AMD that's pretty tricked out and i've got a chinese came witht the box 300watt. No issues.

1st, i'd replace the old power supply and remove the second Hard drive.
Is your problem still there?

Then i'd put the second drive to IDE2 and set it as a master.
Did the problem come back?

One thing at a time.

I did it!

I fixed it!

I first unconncted the power supply then reconnected it, and that got rid of that start up error!

Then I went to Best Buy, returned the Maxtor drive and bought a Seagate 120 gig... Batta Big, Batta Boom! It actually worked!

I have a feeling God was looking out for me today ;-)

Thanks to all that tried to help me, Much appriciated

Power supply voltages for Hard drives and CPU's have nothing in common. They come from different rails. A power supply may be big enough to run 4 hard drives, but not certain CPU's and vice cersa. I recently ran into a power supply for CPU problem when trying to upgrade past an Athlon XP1800+. It turned out to be a good thing since my upgrade solution ended up being an Xp3000+ 64 bit processor. Even with half the amount of RAM that I used to have, projects that were tagging up about 85% of my processor power are now using 30%. Now I can run mixes with 2 convolution reverbs and tons of other plugs and only spend about 40-50% of my processor. And thats with only 512 megs of RAM:)

Good to hear Frank !!!

Glad it finally came together for ya.
Maybe one of the PSU connectors didn't seat all the way and reconnecting them did the trick.
Tracking down computer problems can always be a pain, but patience and perseverance pays off in the end. Plus it's rather gratifying to get it fixed on your own.
