I'm currently looking for some new monitors within the £200 - £300 price range.

I've heard a lot of good things about Alesis monitors, but I want to get some opinions before I go out and buy some.

Thanks a lot!

what monitors do you have now? and what is it that you don't like about your current monitors?

for the price Wharfedale 8.2 actives are the way to go IMO....very true freq. response.

I dont actually have any monitors now. I'm using a shitty pair of PC speakers and some Sennheiser HD280's, which I do love.

I'm not too sure about the Wharfedales, haven't heard many things about them.

Don't know where you live, but you just might take a ride to a major vendor and "listen" to several types of monitors @ various prices and let your ears pick the "sweet" cones/tweeters.

I didn't think much of my former Alesis monitors; however, somebody in Seattle bought them rather quickly; however, that was about six years ago.

I'm using Event SPs and am looking at the new offering by Adams. Waiting to hear more about the Adams before I buy or I'll drive to Sweetwater and listen to a pair in the Spring.

Merry Christmas

You talking about the A7's by chance? If so, I listened to a pair and they sound sweet. Nice tight bottom end (good on women and monitors :D ) and the ribbon tweeters certainly have a clear, clean quality. Just my 2c and ears, of course, but I was impressed. They're next on my list...gotta pay off my other stuff first...

Merry Christmas.......... :D

THANKS for your info on the Adam 7s. I guess they've got to be a couple of cuts above the median priced monitors.

I like my Events but the Adams pair are looking better and better. BTW: the price for a pair is 999 pezzutos and is standard for all vendors who offer them, so far!

Thanks for your valuable input. :D

There is only one local vendor that has a very small range of monitors. From memory, they have some Alesis, some KRK, Samson, Behringer, M-Audio and that's about it.

Any more recommendations?

Can't give any advice on monitors because I've only ever tried a few different ones.

But just about anything will be a major step up from (normal) desktop speakers.

One reason I haven't upgraded to monitors is because I've gotten to know these speakers so well, I have little to no trouble getting my mixes to translate well.

So that is the most important thing I would say when getting monitors.

While Behringger isn't exactly a reputable brand for most of their products, their Truth monitors actually get good responses from online reviews and others in this forum.

You may want to consider those, and search this forum for threads about them.

I would go with something that's comfortable to listen to, and not worry TOO much about a perfectly flat response, as long as you can get used to them and learn how they sound on different songs, so you can make your mixes translate.

And of course treat your room if you haven't already.

Do a a search here on monitors there a lot of posts. Also gearslutz.com they have a bazillion posts on mid priced monitors. I ahve some wharfs and find them to be satisfactory. IMHO good imaging. Good luck. Also check oout thje Rockit RP8 and the Event stuff.
