I have a Roland vs2480, and its a great machine, but i got Cubase a couple weeks ago, and want to sell my Roland, and make my home studio more computer based. Any tips on what kind of mixer or interface that would be good to connect to Cubase? :I would like something that I could use for live mixing as well, as I am on somewhat of a budget. probably at least 16 channels. any ideas would be great!

Everyone's on a budget. What's yours?

What are you "live mixing" that you require 16 channels for?

Most cheap USB mixers only pass through the stereo bus via the USB connection, so that's 2 channels only. Beware. Research.

Generally the advice would be DON'T buy a mixer for recording, buy an audio interface with the appropriate number of channels you require - how many things are you going to record at once? For most home recorders who are starting out, that's probably 2 - unless they're recording drums

Then buy a separate mixer for live stuff.

Are you confusing the number of tracks you have available in Cubase (probably unlimited, except by your PC's processing power) and the number of discrete inputs you require?

Depending upon the answers to these questions, there may be a mixer suitable... hard to say.
