Looking for mic with darker, silky tone...

At first I was gonna say that a modded 319 would be the ticket but I think big kenny might be on the right track with the ribbon thing. (though I would not be suprised if the modded 319 gave you what you were fishing for) I'd trust Big Kenny over me.

The 319 has a nice proximity effect that gives it a warmer sound, IMHO. However, when not using the proximity effect, the sound is pretty much flat, as Mr. Joly pointed out.

This is even more confusing to me. Here's a plot one of our members did of two V67's. Stephen Paul also did a plot of the V67 for me and it was pretty much identical to this:

I just found a 219 on my local Craigslist. I am a pretty technical person and was wondering how worthwhile it would be for me to buy and mod this mic. I have looked through some other old threads here about the mods but none of them had any pictures of the actual work that needs to be done. Is there someplace I can find more details on this?

I have a beta57, 57's, 58's, Shiny Box 23? ribbon, V69, V67, 2 MXL 604s, a tacky dynamic, and a stereo radio shack battery powered mic...

I have had an EV dynamic, AT3035, and something else...

Anyways, for my wifes over sinbilent (how the heck you spell that ) voice the v67 is perfect, and Harvey's response curve shows me why I like it better then every other mic listed for her. Heck in my smaller room (read 7' ceiling) I might like two of the v67s for OH's, but since I have never done drums here , I need to get another one ....again ....had two, sold one ....
