ok, i'm looking to get some kind of recording device to work with my Mac. I was hoping to get the Mbox2 until i realized that i have one of the few mac laptop models that it's incompatable with (Mac PowerBook G4 1GHz). I was also hoping to use ProTools, but that's not a necessity. I'm also not looking to spend more than $500 or so. are there any other suggestions?

thanks!

ah, thanks for the idea! i think that actually might be more than what i need. i just want something little for the in-box...although this looks like a more compact version of it...

has anyone tried the FIREBOX? It looks like it comes with the same software. is that Cubase easy to use? I'd just use it for recording with mics (vox, acoustic guitars...possibly drums), and plug in probably only bass.

thanks!

Well if your going to buy a firebox for that much isn't it a little better to spend a bit more and get a firepod and have more inputs if needed.

yeah, i guess that makes sence... i was hoping to lighten up on my gear. i've got a Roland VS-880EX now, and was just hoping to replace it with my computer and some little box. it feels like if i replace my Roland with a box that's about the same size, it's sort of defeating the purpose. the plan was to maybe just have it to put together demos (for our own use), and we'd still head to a studio for the real thing. but now i'm on the fence...

thanks!
