hi guys,

so this is just for fun....and later on it might become real handy,
but i've been wondering about "how people measure sound pressure level" and stuff...

soon i'll be doing my first Live PA setup,
and i figured it miught be fun to know how "loud" live performances are in different clubs....

and when me and my band have rehearsals in my room we sometimes wonder HOW LOUD we play (we say that after our ears start peeeeeping)

so i've seen a Radioshack SPL meter around,

but i don't know...are there any decent ones, is there crap on the market,
or do all these things do the same job?

cheers,
earworm

The Shack SPL meters are dandies. I have one and use it all the time.

I have one of the digital RS models. No problemos.

I have an earlier version of the meter that vestast linked to. Works great, look no further than Radio Shack!

RatShack has the analog meters on clearence for $15.00
not that I could see. I just bought the digital one for our church, and it worked great. I'd like to get another one.
so...where is the $15 one?...not on their website.

They have them in my 2 local stores with a yellow clearence tag on them for $15.00. I may pick up another one just for the heck of it.

My 20-year old RS analog SPL meter agrees very closely with my drummer's current RS digital meter. I found that pretty amazing.

Here's a picture (yes, I'm having fun with my digital camera tonight).
