Hey, this is great. Exactly what I'm looking for. I plan to take all comments, weigh them, give them a try, and see what I can come up with. I will post some changes later. Thanks.

hey, let's get some other opinoins??

Reverend sbruce,
Im listening to Hidden Shame and the low end has some rumbling going on.

Nice stereo spread on the drum kit...the drums sound fine in the beginning but when the distorted guitars come in they steal their thunder.
The vocals are sitting nice in the mix "at times"....they are kinda getting lost during the chorus section.

Those guitars are so big that they are stealing the mix IMHO.I dont know if it's a volume issue or an EQ.......Im leaning more towards an EQ problem.

Im listening with headphones now and the low end rumble is really happening. The vocals could use a short delay on them or maybe a different reverb.

Thats about all I can hear with my feeble ears right now.maybe Sam(Sabbath) will drop in and give you some tips. He's really good at getting heavy guitars recorded and sounding RIGHT.

Welcome aboard the Board.;)

Here's a diff question for ya: Should I move up to some new monitors? i wouldn't have much money (only about $400) for the next few months (we just had our first kid 2 weeks ago; and as you might be able to tell from where the MP's are located...I'm a minister...so don't have tons of extra $$ :=)

Get the Youth Group to do an all day Saturday car wash while the weather is hot!Tell em they can use the studio every now and then for whatever.;)

Is this a Youth group band?If so that would be reason enough to have a fundraiser like a car wash.

My old youth group washed every vehicle in the county.:D

no, this band is not affilated w/ my church at all...but since I'm in charge of the church web sites...I figured I'm entitled to some domain space :=)

I listened to Hidden Shame. I didn't hear the tune before you made a tweak. It sounds pretty decent to me now but I would've wanted a bit of verb on the vocal. Pretty good job my friend.

I just posted an update to "Hidden Shame". Tell me what you think now... I took about 6 db out @ 75. and added about 4 db @ 2k. Thanks again to all who have helped.

I meant to say that I added 4 db @ 2K to the guitars...the low end adjustment went on the whole mix. Thanks.

Hey Sbruce,

Welcome aboard. I'm one of those guys that can only listen in lo-fi because we have cheap computers (I guess there are a few of us around here) ... and I noticed you have this in hi-fi only ...

Commercial Break:

You should check out Nowhereradio.com

You can sign up for free (up to 15mb) and post your stuff there...it will play in lo-fi (for sorry saps like me) and hi-fi for the heavy hitters around here ... you'll get more people that can listen to your post (though, when you can only listen in lo-fi, mixing advice kind of goes out the window)...

Just wanted to mention it in case you wanted to check it out!

Again, welcome!

Sounds much better. Now you can hear what the bass is doing....the voice comes across clearer too...in fact it dramatically changes things. The guitars sound good also....really a big major improvement, the earlier mix didn't sound very good and this one does.

Oh and BTW...Nowhere is a very cool site and you'll get no spam. Good work on the mix! :)

Thanks a ton Lt. Bob...I really appreciate your insightful comments...anyone else got any helpful advice?

ps. I registered at Nowhere.com; but can't figure out how to upload stuff; I must be blind to the "post" or "upload" button? :)

You're gonna' kill me

Ummm....man, reverend..I hate to say it...but maybe the "advice" about bumping the gits at 2K wasn't such a great idea. I mean, first of all, it came from me, so it was suspect to begin with.

:D

Maybe 4db was just too much. Let's see what others think.

(I do think we're getting there)

:D

Hey, you don't have to call me Reverend :)

i am curious to see what others think...I was a bit concerned with the guitars as well; the more I listen, I more I think they were prob. OK before; but I do think the low end sounds MUCH better!

Any other thoughts?

Hint:I previously posted to you:
