To me, "warmth" is when a preamp provides transparent translation of a signal
less any harshness and/or coloration and with no db boost/hype in the lo-2-upper mids. In addition, a "warm" pre also yields clarity across the audio spectrum regardless of it's settings along with a smooth perf. This is what you can have in a Grace! Mind you, a majority of folks here are into Rock/Metal/Punk (which is all good),some have confused "warm" pres with "colored" pres seeking a clean,hard-edged pad. Myself, an old school Funk/Jazz/Blues crappy musician with 6 diff outboard pres have found that the Grace DOES give "WARMTH" to all genre'sof music across the board.

I understand that we all have different opinions when it comes to terms like warmth, transparency, boxy etc... However, most people tend to view wamrth as a kind of coloring. This is what I was referring to in my comment. Personally I love the Grace stuff for certain things. They are very clear, and they definately get out of your way, almost to a fault. A sort of side effect to that though can often be perceived as a "sterile" quality. Every pre and mic has its place. In general though, it seems that 99% of the people I know equate "warmth" with something that would be "colored".

Say the word a hundred times in succession, and take note of how silly it sounds coming out of your mouth. That's about how much meaning it has in relation to audio.
It's like saying that something tastes "kind of like chicken." Here's a quick test to see if you are, in fact, a dipshit: Ask yourself this question: Do you think that "warmth" is a meaningful term in relation to audio? If you answered "yes," then congratulations, because you just scored 100.

Well, one of my pre's is beyond warm....It's actually HOT! It get's so hot in fact, I bet you could darn near fry an egg on it.
