we are just messing around in our basement trying to get a demo together to give to some prospective bass players for our band. I would love to make this sound kick ass. Apart from the performance errors, what can i do? I'd be glad to divulge the equiptment we have or any of that kind of info.
Thanks!
try subtracting some 150 hz from the kick drum like -6 or so.
And then boost at 70 hz on the kick drum like +4 or so.
Boost the guitars at 150hz or so about +3 each.(boost one at 150 and one at 160 or 140-you dont want too much of one freq happening in you mixes.)
Bass guitar try boosting in the 700 to 800 hz are for presence, and in the 3k range for attack.
The vocal>>>cut out maybe -3 to -6 a 400 hz the vocal seems a little "boxy" or "flat" sounding to me.
Also it sounds like the vocal could use a +2 or +3 bump in the 5 to 7k range for more clarty.
When and if you do this EQ stuff id like you to repost it so i can A/B compare the new mix with the old one.
