LOL! I was just given a Behringer MIC2200 Ultragain Pro.. SO..... I took it..

Is this thing good for anything? I mean besides a door stop?

I hate to not use it.. It has to be good for something.. A coaster?

Night light?

Seriously, thought, it might make a decent DI.

Here's a radical, far-out, idea.

Why don't you try it out?

Well, that isn't too radical or far out. Thats what I did just before your meaningless post.

Give us a review after you try it out.
I don't think anyone actually uses Behringer gear, they just bash it. It would be nice to hear from someone who actually hooked it up and tested it.

How is my post any more meaningless than that of someone who asks what something's good for after he's already tried it out?

Durr

Will do... I am going to try it on a few more things and I will let know..

If you do a search around here (and no, this is not one of those "search before you type" posts" you'll find that that particular pre has a lot of support by a lot of people on this board. Even some of the berry-bashers agree that is a decent mic preamp for the cost.

Yeah I am very familiar with the search function on the board. I did the search and most talked about using it as a mic pre... I do not need another pre.. especially a sub-par pre..

I did a side-by-side test with a Behringer Eurorack mixer and the Yamaha MG10/2. The Yamaha blew it's doors off and I bought it. Much better pre's with a lower noise floor. Of course the Yamaha isn't a top of the line mixer either, but for the money I paid for it, I'm happy... :)

Well, so give it to somebody that needs it! (No, I don't, I have 27 channels of preamps. OK, OK, 24 of those are on my Tascam mixer, but still. :D )

I'm not using as a preamp but as a DI it's better than a standard stage box, and the EQ (even if it's only one band) can be helpful. I'm using it with a Mexican P-Bass and a Yammy Clav Piano. Certainly one of the better Behringer items I've used ...

It's also a good nightlight :)

I did try it out as a mic pre... That is not my intended us though..

Anyway, I tested it as a DI on keys and it did add a little punch and fullness to the cheap board I am using.. BUT, this thing puts out as much noise/hiss as those cassette tapes that used to sell 25 for a $1. Very noisy.

Haha, long live Certron!

Mine becomes very noisey after about 3 o'clock on the gain. I guess you just have to not go there.

I own and use an ultragain pro in my studio.

I don't have a very trained ear, but I use it for all applications, since I simply can't afford anything else.

It's a little noisy, but it does what I need it to. I usually do a lot of digital quality enhancment to make up for the poor preamp.
