The sad thing is... there are people who would actually pay for those things... :p (if they really existed...)

The other sad thing is that there are even more people who won't even get those jokes because they have no concept of guitar "tone". (seeing how they were raised on hyper-compressed top40 alt-rock and think that Boss pedals are "the shizit". :p)

P.S. My fav is the "Corn Biscuit Plus"... LOL... :D :D

-voice over(over the sound of a large, obnoxious speedboat engine tooling through the Florida Keys):

I'VE GOTTA GET ME ONE OF THOSE!

:D

My fav's the "Jaco-B-Gone" bass pedal, not for the effect itself but for the fact that in the picture it says "MSRP $375 — You know it's worth it!"

:D :p :D

I just realized that I totally shoulda put this thread in the Rack forum.... doh!

Is there anybody who can move it?

WATYF

Weren't you just recommending the POD in another thread ? Maybe you need to work on your concept of tone.

Thanks for the kind words... but actually... if you read the whole post, you'd see that I was recommending the POD as a viable option for direct recording (when all you can do is run direct). I would use it for my little bedroom home studio in a heart beat, but if I had to put out something professional, it wouldn't even be an option.

It's all aboot context my man... :p

(unless, of course, you were talking aboot the distortion thread, in which case, I just wasn't as clear aboot how the POD is only a good option for some people according to their budget/recording setup... but don't worry... I cleared that all up just for you. :p)

(it's good to see all you folks from the Cave are still as kind-spirited as ever... :p darn, I miss that place... )

My god! What is wrong with top 40 "alt rock"? Its just music. There is no good and bad. There is no bad tone. Just YOUR tone and MY tone. I do think that website was funny ass hell but I don't mind that subsonic low end. Infact I think there is an amazing amount of tone in there. Just because something is catchy and people other than "us" know about it should make it wrong to like.

Top 40

U2 - cough punk band
Good Charlette - preppie kids from a military academy
Metallica - cough punk band
Guns N Roses - cough punk band
Green Day - Fashion wannabes
Matchbox 20 - cough punk band
N*SYNC - P.U.N.X. (don't believe me? There is a FILTH t-shirt in the POP video....East Bay hardcore from the gutters, not something that finds its way into multimillion dollar propaganda BS too easily - Didn't the Beatles pull something like being like happy-go-lucky to revolutionaries)

If you are gonna say anything about Top 40 its that there are too many punk bands in it. O thats right, punk has no talent. A whole seperate story...................hhmmmmmmmm................

O thats right, punk has no talent. A whole seperate story....

...that's why they need $375 Red Telectronix Talent Boost. :D Many users chain multiple Talent Boosts for unlimited talent  :D

Er... actually.. I don't mind mainstream music... I'm prolly more of a radio listener then most around here... but.. you see... this thread is what's called.. "a joke". See... I put up a link to a funny website.. and then we all have a good laugh. What we don't do is get bent oat of shape over semantic details that mean absolutely nothing... See how that works? :p :D

and C7... oh my gosh man.. that was sick.

Hey now....

What's wrong with Boss pedals? They put better quality buffers in their pedals than some "pro" rack gear.:p

I think I'm gonna get one of those Humboosta's to run with my EMG's. They're just too damn quiet!

:D

I realize the website was a joke and I thought it was funny, but it seemed you were anti radio. I feel a need to defend the underdog. ...and yes, corperate rock radio is the underdog when you have a group of "reel" musicians. (haha! I made a funny. I used Reel instead of Real...get it...like anti CD or HD.)

nah... I'm not one of them "reel" musicians... :p I just do it for fun. And hence, I'm allowed to still like mainstream radio. :D

But you can't deny that there's a buttload of super-compressed, tone-emaciated, sanitized-to-death guitar sounds on the radio these days.... of course... guitar tone is not as bad as it was back in the eighties... can you believe we actually liked that stuff... :p I know a guy (stuck in the 80's) who uses a Digitech multi-effects processor for all his sounds, and every patch he uses sounds like it's running though a freaking tin can... and he likes it that way... tisk, tisk... such a shame... :p

WATYF

I think in moderation tin can effects are good. Puddle of Mudd's She fucking hates me has the into and outro with that LoFi guitar so whe the modern technology kicks in you feel it so much more. Eighties stuff...sorry, with the exception of GNR, most was before my time. GNR is when I was getting into the whole thing. 1990, ahhhh....gotta love having friends with hot older sisters.
