Yehp. I don't know why, but I thought you had bought monitors.

At very least decent full response headphones would be a great idea Master.

ive got two pairs of headphones..ones are £30 hd senhesier i think -ones the music shop recommended me..others are behringer hpm1000s

Either of them will be better than laptop speakers.

You have more wiggle room than most because you're not working on a full mix; Just the voice.

Just noticed your soundcloud comments man. Thanks a lot. :)

no probs steen..well ill put my headphones in and take a listen then and re-go over things..;) apologies..i am going to get some speakers soon..as my mum has some hugeee massve dells ones i think would be good..so in future ill have big ass speakers + headphones

Ok,cool. Ordinarily PC speakers or consumer speakers aren't recommended, but for getting a vocal right you should be just fine man.

Awesome, I think this will all get a lot easier for you now Master. I'm glad we figured out your monitoring chain is a big part of the problem. And thanks for the rep Steen :) I'd rep you if I could, but... "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Steenamaroo again." :D

okay guys..so i deleted all the previous settings ie: eq etc..started again with headphones in..but what am i doing wrong i still dont think in comparison to the songs i want it to sound like it sounds like it :(

The one in your pictures is ideal.

What you're "doing wrong" is not hearing the difference, or at least not knowing what sounds good and what sounds bad while you're tweaking eqs.

That honestly just comes down to practice man. I don't think anyone can help much more.

yeah i noticed the difference in headphones man understand what you were saying steen about the mix when i listened with headphones in

help apprciated as im getting overloaded and angry with myself about this track :(

Wow Master, mix 7 is the best I've heard you do so far! Mix 7 is better than mix 8 in my opinion. I think you're definitely getting there.

I think the track sounds slightly hollow now, possibly from cutting a bit too much lows. Just roll off your high-pass filter until it sounds a little bit fuller. I think that's the part you hear "missing" from the track. The echo sounds a bit loud for me, but that's up for you to decide.

You're improving for sure. Keep trying and don't give up! :D

how do i roll off the high pass filter? and yeah ive changed the echo too..

:) spent last night up until 6 am with my head in my mixing book..now i think i've got it..i know what i was doing wrong and i feel so stupid..it's simple..get a good recording first..you won't need much eq..then afterwards work around it..well i think i got the idea, and now thanks to this+ you guys i'm getting a perfect sound and what i want..i'm so happy with this song i've just done..i followed steen's advice and guitar's :)..from reading this mixing book fully its given me a whole new perspective and how dumb my questions were *embarrassed face* and i know why my music sounds so crappy..i've been outputting the bitrate at higher than what it's recorded at..according to this book that can make mixes sound 'choppy' and 'fast'
anyway if you guys think i could perhaps make it sound better using your experience appreciated :) the new songs up in the mp3 clinic!
