I know this has been asked over and over again. I guess my real question is Apple or Windows? I have never owned an apple but everyone tells me they are great. Especialy for music recording.

My laptop is just not doing it anymore. I have been debating on building a windows machine or getting a Mac with the I7. And that leads to another question. I know I can take $1000 and build a really good windows desktop system for music but will an apple MacBook I7 with Logic be just as good as a windows system with cubase?

Depends on which software you like to use. Cubase is built for Windows. Logic, for Mac. That is not to say Cubase doesn't work with Mac, just possible not as well on Mac.

Your second question - Yes. A Mac will be just as good a machine. It all depends on the software preference.

Looks like the only real drawback is that Mac is twice as expensive as a windows machine.

OS is irrelevant. (In fact I'm sitting here on an iMac running OSX, Windows7 and Linux... simultaneously. Which is a plus point)

Your choice of daw is purely personal; they all do basically the same thing.

You need to go to the bookstore, sit in the cafe and read the Cubase and Logic books (they DO exist) and see which clicks for YOU.
