I have adobe audition 1.5 (LMBO) and it skips when I record and during just regular playback.....I've tried everything as in locking the tracks in time to relieve the pressure off my PC but nothing as worked I also changed my OS setting to best performance I've tried everything nothing has worked....can anyone give me an answer.....and my D drive is full So I'm Thinking I might need to Buy Another Hardrive.......any suggestions?:(

Defrag your drives.

Kill unnecessary processes.

Remove all plugs and add back in one at a time until it starts skipping again. Hint: Reverb plugs use a lot of CPU juice. You should only use one instance of reverb and send all tracks to it instead of inserting in each track.

Tons of other things to do. And yeah, a full hard drive will cripple any computer.

I'm doing that now....i use echo's more then anything though but just on atliffs not on my main vocals.....but is it because my D drive is too weak to take my session?

thanx seidy your going to laugh at my pc when I Tell you that it reads 3.00 GB of Ram.....and I have a 64-bit operating system.....I dont know crap about computers but is my system the problem?

echo ?! it s delay and reverb , it use a lot of cpu ...
3 gb ram is not enough for multiple sessions , but it depends on how much tracks and vsts, vstis you are using , and if it skips even during a single track playback , my guess is the problem is your computer , first of all you have 3gb of ram why 64bit os ? second of all it may some programs , virus or something that use your memory or cpu or both , you have to find that out , adding another hard drive may not solve your problem , or may solve it for now and you face it again , you have to manage your computer , if I were you i would spend a few hours deleting all unnecessary files and programs , monitoring cpu usage , and after you manage that maybe re install the whole system (I know it s a pain but sometimes you need to , to keep my pc in shape I do it every 6 month or so)

We didn't get answer about D drive... is it external? If it is external you can try copying the project to C drive.
Did you try to change the buffer size?

You could invest in RAM, since it's pretty cheap. Definately won't make anything worse. ;)

I said you should first identify your problem , monitor your cpu usage and then if you think it s necessary you can re install your OS ,

Happened to me - got round it by installing ASIO4ALL audio driver, but my first port of call was to make sure the Pause/Break key on the keyboard wasn't on Pause.
