Live Sound Mixer Question

So, I should probably know this, but I'm no live sound expert so I'll ask here to confirm. I'm planning on buying a live mixer for my band (Mackie CFX12) with insert jacks. If I buy a bunch of cables, can I use the mixer onstage to control my band's monitor mixes, then send the signal through the insert jacks to front of house for mixing on their console? If not, is there a better solution for this situation? Thanks in advance.

Most venues have an adequate monitor mixing setup these days, and if that's all you're going to be using the Mackie mixer for you'd probably do better to spend your cash on something else.

If you try to use the Mackie instead of the house monitor system you'll create an instant conflict with any house sound person, a wiring nightmare, and then need to do it all over again at the next venue.
