Is there such a program that can monitor the EQ of what you're recording? Something that can show me levels of the different band frequencies. If there is, please let me know what it's called and where to get it. I could care less about price. If it can do what I need, I'll be more than happy to fork out the dough.

What you are looking for is called a Real Time Analyzer, often referred to as RTA. If by chance you have an RME sound card, than there is already one built in. Otherwise, you may need a plug in one instead of a standalone software application so you can run it from inside whatever application you are using. You can also get standalone RTA's that need no computer at all. On the cheap side there are Behringer RTA's, for a little more the Driverack PA has one, but the readout screen is so small that it will be hard to read. For more money you could get a DBX Driverack 480r remote, a Klark Teknik (not sure what their most current model number is), or Goldline.

There are some good standalone software apps which offer some pretty intense real time measurements. The most common being SIA Smaart. (they used to be tied to JBL, but I think they are no longer officially tied together)

It's called EARS. "Watching" EQ levels doesn't cut it. It's pretty lights and all, but otherwise quite worthless in the real world.

I was thinking smaart but he's talking about being able to look at the recording not from a mic in the room. You would almost need another computer with smaart to feed from the recording computer. Plus smaart is alot more then just a RTA. But I'm not sure what the setup is.

Are you just recording a stereo track?

Yeah. Just stereo. Nothing too elaborate. I'd mainly want it for monitoring the EQ of my vocals and maybe guitars.
