This is excellent! Your vocal goes very well with this tune and I like the lyrics.

Simplicity is sometimes more powerful than a big production and I think that this song really flys because of the openess and simplicity of it. It reminded me a little bit of Going To California by Led Zepplin, even a few lyrics that are similar.

I like the sound you got on the guitar and your vocals sound great on this!

Really nice job!

SoCo is cool. I lived in SD for 4 years and then CO for another 4 before finding myself in MN.

.........oops........ I misunderstood the lyric. I thought you were using "colera" as a metaphor for a diseased state of being. :( :D sorry for misinterpreting............... :)

Thanks for the nice words. In all honesty, I think I got that little bass string lick from listening to "Your Time is gonna Come" one too many times. The song has about ten years on it now so, it's hard to recall. At any rate, I'll shut up now before I don't sound cool and original. Shhhhh........don't let anyone know that I've been influenced:D !!

Sam,
Thanks for your ear dude,

I swear that when my chops are up (I've not practiced for the bulk of the summer) I get a better feel, energy and result when I cut this sort of thing live. By the fall I'll prove it to you...(oooooohhhh, "said the gallery"...."he's gonna prove it");)

Right now, if the sound is good, I'm happy. I know I could do better with the performance and will strive to get there.

That "SEAD" boner is gonna haunt me for sure:o :D .

Peace,

Theron.

Whatever works for you dude,
Upon retrospect, who am I to tell ya what to hear:) I think I might even like your version better!! Either one fits just fine.:D :D

Hope to have a version of your bass work soon;)

Theron,
I just got an MXL too, I'm just using my mixer's pre....your vox sound great, do you think it is worth it to spring for something like the ART TUBE......also, is the shure pg81 a condensor....did you just point it st the sound hole.............sorry for all the questions, but I'm thinking of trying an all solo acoustic deal too, but I'm thinking I don't have the right mic for my acoustic.........

powderfinger,
It is my loose understanding that there are alot of MXLv versions new on the market and I keep seeing them cheaper and cheaper. I have the v67 which is cheap $150us a month ago and I've seen other versions for under $90. I think what I like is the combo of the MXL and the ART. I can get all the timbre and accents of the vox on the soft parts and get nuts on the hard sections without getting too worried about lack of capture or clipping. I try to be careful about using a couple tools to fix all my probs but, I don't wanna stare at levels when I'm trying to live a song vocally. Blahh Blahh,

Yes, the pg81 is a condencer. It is a cheaper version (by about 230 bucks) of the shure 321(?). This recording is literally the first time I plugged the mic in. I put it about 6 inches out, at the 15th frett or so with a mild (7 degree) angle towards the sound hole.

I'm confident that the first time I try to replicate this capture, I'll get pissed off and think I need a new mic!!:D I used to use a Shure 841 condencer but, I purchased it about 7 years ago and I think they only made the one that they sold to me:)

Hope that helps.

The ART TUBE is under $200 and the most impactual thing I've scored in a year or so. The Blue Max is in the same ball park and I've heard rewarding endorcments for it as well.

Keep in mind that I'm a wanna be songwritter, not a tech dude.......

Theron.

Lecture time.
You're not a wannabe songwriter.
You're a songwriter, in the midst of other songwriters.
Each of us is at a stage...apprentice, journeyman, master; usually somewhere in between, but always striving for the next level.
It's up to others to judge at what stage we reside.
Now, each of us has written wannabe songs...the ones that don't quite stir the listener, or ourselves for that matter.
But there are songwriters here, and you're one of 'em.
So admit it...you are a songwriter.
End of lecture.

Sorry mkg,

I didn't mean to offend you or myself. I was grossly(sp?) trying to highlight the fact that I'm not a technically sound referance for hardware. Granted, I can be self depreciating but, not in this instance. Glad to be in the ranks of songwriter:) I've been one for many years and few people have ever known;) I just wanna be a better one.

lecture so noted.:) :)

Shoot, you didn't offend me...I just didn't want you to offend yourself!
Besides, I've never used the frown smiley, wanted to give it a try. :D

hmm...frown smiley...is that an oxymoron?

Great sound on the vocal and guitar. At times I thought your voice sounded simaler to Gordon Lightfoot. I hear no phase anomlies between the vocal mic and the guitar mic.

Thanks Track,
I think I'll stick to this formula for live acoustic songs.

Theron.

wait a sec...

...you and WATYF aren't the same person are you

:D

You guys have very similar voices... LOL did you say "D'Oh" ala Homer Simpson? :D

Ya need some Travis pickin' in this hya tuun. The licks you do have are nice. Wish I had an acoustic :( Gave away the only one I ever had (one made by a Guatemalan craftsman). I could go steal my mother's...

Maybe you and crawdad could do a duet, and the rest of us could upload some hoots and hollers between chugs of JD ;) I'll be the one spittin' tobacco on the floor (wait; I don't even chew  :))

Nice, simple track.

Ahhh.......Ahhhhhh........No.

WATYF has a nice, coveted timbre to his voice. I don't. We both play Taylors though..

Haven't heard from crawdad. Maybe we will do a duet. I can't stomach the JD. Will you pitch in for a bottle Chivas? If so, I'm there dude:D
