Listening to Monitors & Headphones At Same Time While Recording

I don't see why not...

Call them and ask them if the headphone jack cuts the feed to monitors when a headphone plug is inserted.
 
it shouldn't, i have other m-audio interfaces and thats not an issue
u can run both at the same time

You have to verify what you hear in you headphones in comparison to what you hear in your monitors as accurate as possible. if by chance your headphone out put is good, and your monitor output is just as good if not better, then you will be ok for now, but you still want to have a mixer for more creativity.
