I'm really new to recording, especially drums. I have these drums multi-tracked and ready to mix. A little advice please, especially with the kick. It sounds like garbage.

what's up w/ the kick? It sounds like it's tuned high? or maybe your room is resonating with it. or it needs muting? mine sounds lower pitched. That kind of stands out to me, but in the context of a mix, it might work ok, depending on the other stuff.....

my drum recordings come out the same way, sounds like wall reflect (verb) also you might want to sand bag the bass up against the beater head to mute it a tad, i read this so don't hold me to this, i'm no drummer but have a set of old ears that fail me often :) how are you micing the drums?

also, I have a drum sample on NWR. But I don't know if I'll ever be able to duplicate it, I just moved my ddrums and tuned them, but in the similar spot. I'll try it again..

I too am curious how you mic'd the set.

The bass is ringin'...the snare sounds a bit distant at times, the toms get hotter as you move down to the bigger heads. The "sound" is nice...the set sounds good but over all balance is a bit off. I'd work with mic placement and balance a little more.

Tell us more about your recording technique.
