This version sounds alot better in alot of ways such as the reverb on this one is perfect and the guitars sound brighter.
Trying to bring down the vocals is probably a good thing, however, I may not have put them in their place quite enough, because I could hear the multiband compressor working alot. As you're aware, I am not really familiar with the processes so I am in no position to say anything, however, I did like the overall tone of the original other than that it could have a low cut around 50Hz and maybe bring down the gain right around 6kHz to take away the harshness, and maybe a high boost around 10-20 Kish. I don't know if these values are even slightly on, but do you get the idea? What I am saying is in short:
The record sounds good except, it's low messiness, harshness, and lack of 'sparkling'. Other than those, I am trying to get it louder, which will require some compression I know. Don't try and re-mix it though. I know the vocals are too loud and alot is screwed, but we aren't concerned about that right now.
Riffer, you are doing a wicked job, and I am so pleased to have someone like you helping me out....you're the best. I am currently trying to get a free full version of Ozone from somewhere so I can play too. I want to thank you for taking your own time to help me out.....it's the nicest thing ever. Hopefully I will be able to post some links to crap I have 'mastered' soon too.
Greg.
