Hello! I've got a question I can't seem to find an answer to on the web. Basically, the more i record bands, the more i realize I need more than 8 inputs. My question is, how can I get more inputs running through my Tascam dp32?? Is this even possible? Would I need to connect it to a mixer or an audio interface, and how? Would love to get this figured out.

Thanks for your time!

Hi,
The simple answer is that it has 8 available simultaneous inputs, and that's the limit.

You could put a mixer in front of two of the inputs (say 1+2) and that would give you 6 discreet inputs on the Tascam plus however many channels the mixer has BUT anything going through mixer has to be balanced and eqd right on the way in. You can't go back and alter the individual components.
Not a great idea unless you're super confident and everything about the environment and set up is ideal.

The next logical step would be to look for 16 channel standalone recorders, or a computer based setup with a 16+ channel interface.
You're not going to find many interfaces that have more than 8 mic pres built in.
Usually, at that level, it's 8 mic pres plus a load of extra channels via adat/spdif/line in. These allow you put add your own, additional, mic preamps.

Make sense?

Totally! I appreciate it and will be looking into a 16 channel board in the near future
