Interesting concept. I think those guitars have great looks too.

I love Line6 gear. The Delay Modeler, Bass POD, Modulation Modeler, and Vetta. Can you imagine how stimulating it must be to work on the design team there ?

Nice, classic designs. I'm glad it doesn't have some goofy, futuristic look to match the futuristic technology.

Not that I'm against futuristic designs-I LOVE the way my Parker guitar looks :)

Must be very exciting to be able to design and work on stuff that is so "out there".

This guitar, if it sounds as good as I hope, would be perfect for me. I'm always mixing acoustic sounds with electric. But never found a way to be able to effectively switch between the two effortlessly. That's why I got a Parker. But the Parker acoustic sounds, though cool, aren't exactly something you would mistake for a real acoustic. The Parker acoustic sounds are kinda there...but it doesn't have that boomy, airy, woody sound that an acoustic's sound chamber creates to give an acoustic it's distintive sound.

I wonder if they'll license out the technology or sell the hardware separately so others can modify their own guitars.

Very cool time to be a guitar player.

uhmmmmm...aaaaaahh...ehem...

I cannot seem to find the pickups in these guitars.

Maybe I am blind already...

Seriously...where are they?

Peace...

I'm not too familiar with the type of pickups they are using. But I think the Piezo pickups in my Parker are inside the bridge.

AHA!

Sorry, I didn't read the article actually, so I did not know they had piezos. You are entirely right!

They don't look as cool as I thought they would, not ugly just really plain... but hey, people didn't like the look of the Les Paul when it came out...

They only look like that until you turn them on, then a hologrphic image of the guitar that you are modeling is projected onto the face of the Gtr. there is even a load balance shifter so that when you select, say a V, all the weight shifts to the tail end. And an electronic ballast of sorts so that when you select the Les Paul the weight doubles...

Why can't people learn to write?

I'd LOVE to try this guitar, but I just got distracted by the reviewer's writing.

These signals flow through software algorithms that have captured the interaction of each modeled guitar's pickups, their placement, tone controls, and details of the instrument's physical structure to accurately produce the sonic signature of the original modeled instrument.

I wonder if it hurts to flow through an algorithm?:D

Woa! It does a resonator!?! I'm gonna haf'ta look into this thing!

Bdgr, are you just trying to get your post count up?

That was a good one Bdgr.
Heh. Your name always reminds me of UW (Badgers).

Regarding the guitars, it sounds like a cool idea. I've always thought the POD's didn't quite cut it. However, often an amp can color a guitar's tone at least as much as the wood, pickups, etc. of a guitar. Running a modeled guitar through a decent amp may help to mask any deficiencies. Be that as it may, I'd have to try one to really comment.

Regarding the posts on that site comparing it to a Roland VG-88, it's similar, but different. The VG-88 modeled the entire signal path, including the guitar type and amp. Some models were great, some high gain models royally stunk. Modeling just the guitar with the Line 6 may be useful for higher gain amps that are difficult to model.

Nice. It sounded pretty good. Of course a good guitarist can make almost any guitar sound good.

I wonder what the action and neck radius are like. It would be nice to have different neck options.

Thanks for the link.

I think Lopp heard guitar modelling and was thinking nude modelling... he's looking for a guitar that can do tobe kai graphics and have enough controls to change positions and angles. Hell, I wouldn't mind that guitar either!

LOL

That is an excellent idea. It could be a collaborative effort between Line 6 and Vivid Video or Private Video.
