Line-in vs. Tape-in on Tascam M208

Hi!
I have a Tascam M-208 mixer. Could anyone tell me if I should use a line-in or tape-in input for recording instruments and everything else?

Use the tape in for tape, and line instruments if they are hot enough. It's a cleaner signal path because it bypasses the first stage -- trim pot and pad.
