line in/mic jacks ??

just wondering what the difference is (if any) between using the "line in" jack, compared to using the "mic" jack on the back of my computer.. ive been "home recording" for a few years now, and never really gave the "line in" jack a shot..... just curious

don't use the mic jack. Use the line in. You have two inputs, right and left. It will get you started. Again, don't use the mic input!

Amongst other negatives the mic in has a REALLY poohy preamp/gain that gives vol. but at great expense.
Follow the thunder - line in, 2 channel STEREO!!!

The mic-in jack has a 20-cent preamp in it for use with those $3 stick mics.

You do NOT want to use it for music.
