Line 6 Guitarport

Im debating on a soundcard, or this.

I have looked into it quite abit, heard recordings of it (not just line 6 recordings) and seems exactly what i want.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but does this act as a soundcard? My current soundcard is an AC97 standard thingy, not good at recording at all - sounds 'grainy' or 'muddy' not quite sure what the word would be. Would a Guitarport 'override' my soundcard when recording? Is the recording quality good?

All i want, is to be able to record one guitar.

Any help would be great!

The Guitarport is ok for recording guitar,but it sounds like ass when you play music through it like a regular soundcard.

All it'll be for is recording. I'm possiblly getting one tomorrow, so hopefully it'll be ok.
