line 6 floorboard and distortion on Flextones and AX

Hi Guys - I've added to this discussion in the past, but now I need new input.

I'm using a line 6 floorboard with my POD. The distortion switch isn't a clean/dirty switch, but rather a less/more distortion switch. I'd write a new patch and just bounce to it, but it doesn't feel too smooth right now.

So my question is this (and it's a bastard) - I understand you can totally cut the distortion with the distortion switch on the AX2, but not the Flextones. On the other hand, the Flextones (and II's, I assume) have an effects loop. I do some funky pedal stuff, so I need that loop between distortion and the cone, but the AX2 doesn't have an effects loop, is that right?

If I could fuse the loop of the Flextone with the AX2's circuitrity and control of distortion, I'd have my next amp. Suggestions or advice from anyone who's used one of these amps? Thanks.

Why do you want to switch off the distortion when you can just switch to a different preset? (for example, you use the Rectified distortion, and switch to a Fenderesque clean, or a Rectified clean if that's what suits you).

Yes the Flextone has a post distortion effect loop.

If it's a smooth switch, I can do that. It seems like with the POD, I get an audible click and about a 1 second delay. That's hard to time when playing live

I'm using my Flextone XL live without problems, there is maybe a 10-15ms delay, but nobody notice it, you kinda get used to it and press the switch just a little sooner (and I do mean a little). However, I'm not using the Floorboard, I'm using the little FB4 footswitch, I don't know if the latency is different.

I agree with DropD...Are you useing heavy delays or other effects in your programs...

Heavy delays? mnnn. Yeah. (but I also have the Line 6 delay pedal, so I'll be running that thru the effects loop in the future) - I'm going for that Nick Mccabe wash of texture

Its just a guess but maybe the clicks and the pops are from the effects when you change presets..sometimes effects dont change as smoothly as you would like..The line6 delay pedal is very cool...good luck
