Does anybody have any comments about Line 6 digital amplifiers good or bad?

Have you been satisfied with the sounds you've been able to get from them?

Thanks.

Hello,

I have a Line 6 Spyder...(was all I could afford of the Line 6 amps at the time) and I love it. There are a lot of people that don't like the modeled amps but I figure if you get the sound that you like, that's whats important. I like it because it has a bunch of distinct sounds you can get out of it. Your not just distorting a clean sound. I also like that it has a separate channel volume and drive dial so that you can keep the same distorted sound when the volume is turned way down.

I'm not so sure you could use it in a very large live situation but for small rooms or crowds, I don't see any problem with it. I've used it on occasion playing for around 300 or so and didn't hear any complaints about not being able to hear it.

All in all, I have to say I like my amp alot. For recording I think it's perfect because of being able to get the sound I want without having to drive the amp so hard.

Just my two cents.

God Bless!

For use at home, at "bedroom" levels, they are unbeatable.
Great sounds at low volumes.
I should know this , as I have some great guitar amps at my disposal. (Fender BF Deluxe Reverb, Bruno Underground 30, 68`Marshall Plexi and Apollo 2, a Trainwreck clone)
This is some of the best amps money can buy, and all of them sounds great, but not at very low volumes........

In a gig situation, they Line 6`s doesn`t sound very good, their poweramps are too weak, and the sound gets stiff and unplesant.

I have an AX2 and have no problem with loud volume levels. I like it all the way around.

Thank you very much.

I have a good offer on a used one that I think I will now take because of your advice.

Ive got an ax2 and I think its the best thing since sliced bread:D
When the price breaks Ill get a vetta!! Most people dont use the computer interface for the ax2 but its the amps greatest feature. You can download and adjust patches on your computer in real time and save the patches where you want them .. see www.patchwizard.com

They suck.
You are better off with a Fender CyberTwin. Really sounds great. ...and if nothing else at least it IS a fender instead of just trying to sound like one. The Fender comes closest to sounding like a Boogie IMHO. Ofcouse you could just buy a Boogie and not play around with cheap knock-offs.

I'm playing out with an AX2 tonight (as I have been for the last 2 years). Unrivalled programmability that my second guitarist wishes he had. He's always playing with knobs and getting distracted during the gigs; I step on a button and the desired sound is there, because I set it up that way beforehand.

It's not for the impatient though. If you can't take the time to EQ it and adjust effects at practice so that all patch volumes are well balanced and sound as you wish, then you won't get the most out of the amp.

I agree with Toker that you are better off with a Fender Cyber Amp (I'm not sure I agree with his overall method of saying it...)...however, the Line 6 products have always been great for me, in a multitude of playing environments...go check them out and if it sounds good to YOU, give it a shot...and if you can buy it from a Guitar Center, they have a 30 day return policy, if you don't wind up liking it...though, I'm sure other outlets have similar policies...

Either way, I have gotten a TON of good use out of my Line 6 stuff, primarily the POD...

Good luck,

Scott

I see nothing wrong with my method.
...Wait...checking to see if I was offensive........

hey trip i have the AXSYS thing too and altho i cant get great sounds out of it...a couple of my freinds who are real guitar players really liked it ..in fact one of them borrowed it for a gig...i like the "ease of use"...aspect.
i just mainly use presets so ...some of the tweakers probably get better results...:)

...another VERY happy Spyder user (2x12 model with the Floorboard pedal), and I play gigs with it all the time, with 2 different bands. It's very, very well designed - my only complaint is that it's a bit heavy (no amp case yet), and it should have a direct-out besides the headphone jack.

While I'm a huge Fender fan, I'd have to disagree that the CyberTwin is all that much better. I demo'd the 2 side by side, and the CyberTwin was less flexible, more cumbersome to tweak, and $300 more expensive. I could dial up the tone I was looking for with the Spyder in a few seconds - the CyberTwin took me considerably longer, and I had a harder time getting exactly what I wanted.

In my opinion, they both sound excellent, but I chose price and flexibility over name brand and motorized knobs.

I was rather underwhelmed by my friends Flextone amp. Not a bad amp. But nothing that made me want to run out and get me one.

It's pretty good considering you get several decent tones out of one amp.

I thought the cybertwin sounded pretty awesome.

Just picked up another Mint condition Line 6 AX2 for $310 off ebay. And I only had to drive about 30 minutes to pick it up :) what else can you get for $300 these days. Im one happy camper

As I've said before,One really great feature of this amp is the computer interface, Patchwizard.com which lets you make ALL your adjustments from your computer screen. If your still bending over turning knobs you cant be 10 feet away from the amp to see the real effect of your changes. I can sit in a chair with the guitar on my lap and work the mouse and tweak effects verb compression tone and amp models , speaker cabs and pedals till my ears content.

Thats soooo nice.

Peace
Bill

Definately. I own a Line 6 Spyder 212 100 watt, I bought it around 2 years ago when I was considerably less knowledgable about the subject (guitar amps, fool.) They sound really good at low levels, but for gigs, nuh uh.

If line6 amps are good enough for Phil Campbell (Sp?) (of Motorhead fame), Im sure they will be loud enough for me!

Im still using Pods and I love 'em to bits !
