... Is precisely what?? I have a limiting function on my Alesis Masterlink and would like to know how to use it. I understand it makes things a bit louder and bolder, but by the nature of the name 'to limit' I dont know why. What settings would you find for a usual R n B hit on the radio for instance? Ive heard that lots of radio stuff has been had this process applied to it.

Ive applied the process on my own stuff but I dont know about settings and it all sounds the sameish...
Can anyone help?

A limiter does just what it sounds like, it limits your dynamic range. In other words you use it so your levels don't clip and or blow you ears or speakers and it should be transparent. You settings depend on your equipment but the idea is not to exceed 0 db.

People think limiters make music louder, but that's only making up the gain loss of the limiter. The limiter is actually reducing the peak, allowing you to boost the gain without clipping.
