Hey people,

I recorded a short track called "My Path". You can check it out below.

The beat is from Terra Firma - Hall of Fame. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

Hi

Very nice song. The playing is very tight and the production very professional.

Excellent work.

I like this a lot man!

I'm listening on computer speakers atm, but I am not hearing that gnarly bass that usually goes with this style.

Other than that man, sounds great!

Short, sweet, good rapping, strong vocals.....mix is pretty tight - like a drum skin.....

Dude, "THEM Season Wrap" is awesome (coming from an ex basketball coach) I was grinning from ear to ear. Nice job. Aussie rap, whodathunkit?

ha thanks man people familiar with b-ball seem to like that song. Us Aussie's rappers go alright too haha.

You need to work on blending your vocals to the backing tracks better.

It's partially volume (ie. they're too loud), but they could also use some processing. I know the style demands a very present, and very clear vocal line, but you could definitely afford to back them off a bit. It almost sounds like you've had problems with clarity and ability to interpret the lyrics, so you've compensated with volume. Try some EQ'ing, compression etc. instead. I'd say particularly look into using some compression. The dynamics of the vocal lines are all over the place.

Just out of interest, what kind of equipment are you using?

Edit:
You forgot to use a pop-filter in "Time Will Tell" didn't you? :p

Your right but i've been reading up on recording & mixing lately so the quality should be on the improve. Those older tracks i had no pop filter, it was just a $15 dollar mic plugged into the computer haha. Yeah so the equipment i have includes an SM58 mic, a M-Audio interface & recording in cool edit pro which i feel should be enough to get the job done if i know what i'm doing lol. Thanks for the feedback man.

Reading is the best thing you can do man. You're on the right track. The more you know the better. A massive stockpile of knowledge will often take you further than a massive stockpile of equipment, from what I've learned in my admittedly small experience anyway.

What you've done sounds good, keep it up.

Yeah thanks man, i agree that reading is awesome. Things once confusing become clear. And yeah i think equipment is a little bit overated, it's more about the songs in the end.
