Whats the best RAP MIC??!
Whats up guys. This song was recorded in some kids bedroom with a blue snowball with a terrible singer with a terrible rapper with a terrible "producer."
After listening to the song (it is my friends not mine) I told my friend I would be embarrased to show anyone it. Knowing I just built a small home studio and had a little knowledge he asked me to help him. I did the absolute best I could do on this song. Here it is, and sorry if it makes your ears bleed. It is not my song lol but I do have permission to post it. The producer that originally recorded it sent me the vocal MP3 and the beat MP3. This made my life so much harder with only 2 mp3 tracks and not the individual wav. tracks. Whatever though, let me know how to make it better please! The song is so bad I know, it sounds like garbage.

first off, don't post anything if you truly consider it to be garbage. be confident of your work and don't put it down specially when you haven't even received any feedback. people will take the song as such ("garbage") and will comment with that mindset.

with that said, it's not a bad song, it has potential. the instrumental, while simple, sounds really nice (you guys achieved to transmit emotion, atmosphere and mood thru it) ... however, it could use some extra synths to switch things up every once in a while.\

the drums could use some better mixing. the kick is too faded and not as defined as it should be. the claps could be brought out a tad more.. they sound too flat.

the vocals.... the reason people hate auto tune. it works at times but it's not the case here. not only do they suffer from a bad auto tune, but they are lacking a good mix. try compressing them to make them more solid and eq them a bit.

but the real problem here was the recording process, the vocals would need to be re-recorded. problem in volume levels because they sing/rap certain parts louder than others.

jesus christ the auto tune/vocals are so annoying. once again, auto tune does work but it was poorly used in this song. sounds terrible. however, with some sharper vocals and better drums, it could be a decent song. i just don't know if it'll happen with this singer and rapper.

Like I said I received this song in two mp3 files, one with the beat and one with the backing track. There was no way for me to bring up the kick even though I did try. I asked the kids "producer" to send me the individual wav files but instead he sent me 2 mp3s. I am more of an acoustic musician and HATE autotune. But you have no idea how much worst the vocals were without autotune. he was literally a full step sharp and the only POSSIBLE way to fix it was with a terrible autotune job. However, if you heard the first song, you would fall in love with this autotune. I appreciate the feedback though, so thank you. I just wish there was a way I could actually fix any of this but without the individual wav files I cant. I did not record this song at all, I only heard my friends attempt and told him to send me the files so I could see what I could do

I just wish there was a way I could actually fix any of this . . .

There is one way.

Tell them your done!

Sorry bro. I feel for you. this kind of .. music.. for lack of better terms, grates at me. I stopped listening after as soon as i heard the really bad auto tuned vox.

Not your fault i know. Sound wise if thats the best you can get two mp3's to sound together thats probably the best you can do. the vocals need a wee bit of compression and a desser.

I can't offer any more insight. into that. The 'producer' should have a firm grasp on the fact that in order to turn this crap into something better you need a bit more to work with then 2 mp3's

Agian i apologise and my heart goes out to you man.

I'd do the song a favor by getting rid of that lame as 'banana boy productions' or whatever the girl is orgasming about. Irrelevant to the subject matter. Christ. or maybe suggest to have play once at the fade out.

Also.. whats with this producer craze? someone doesnt have the skills to engineer or the creativity to compose/write/perform so they give them selves the 'producer' title. Gimme a break. sheesh.

Then I'm trying to figure out why you posted it. You're embarrassed to show it to anyone. Anyone who isn't deaf will be embarrassed to listen to it. Any advice you get is useless since you can't change anything. What was the point?????:eek:

im guessing its becasue the gangster 'producer' probably had mikeeb at gun point telling him to fix or else.....

Hahhaah. I posted it because you guys are MUCH better at this stuff than I am, so I was figuring someone might have some ideas on how to fix this lol. And Greg, I think his producer can make this a ringtone for you :D hahahaahhaa
And thats true, there is not too much I can do to fix it, but I love the knowledge I get from this forum and if I did have the ability to change it, would like to know what should be changed. This song reminded me of DOA (Death Of Autotune) by Jay Z lol

I agree with what everyone else has said.

Ditch the autotune, and retrack the vocals (if possible). I mean, there is only so much you can do, right?

If this is your friend that you are working with here, and he's the one that reached out to you, why not offer to retrack the vocals for him? That would be a start.

Anyways, just my two cents!

Best Regards

:eek:WOW!! That was___________ Well considering what you had to work with, congrats.
