Call me nuts but I'm not usually into female vocals. But this is pretty cool stuff. I really like the singing, it has a very relaxed and non-pretentious delivery.
I'm also in the camp that is saying that the recording sounds nice the way it is. I know many people can't get past a "low-fi" recording, but I don't let it bother me as long as the song is good. I mean, it's one thing when you get these artists/bands recording in big-dollar studios and purposely making their albums sound like they were recorded on a boom-box, but it's a whole other thing when the low-fi aspect results from a true spontaneous DIY situation with limited equipment and experience. I've found a lot of times, with my own recordings and those done by friends, that when something cool is captured in a basic low-fi recording and then an attempt is made later to re-record the song more "professionally", the result just doesn't capture the vibe and character of the original. Sounds weird, but it's overwhelmingly been my experience.
Thumbs up
