I just bought a "new condition" RODE NT1A Condensor Mic from a Studio selling it on Ebay. I have conversed with these people a couple times now and they said the mic was "brand new condition" and "worked perfectly before shipping".
I hooked it up for the first time last night to record vocals on a project, and as soon as I hooked it up, it seemed to come on and work for like 2 quick seconds, then nothing!!!
I made sure the Phantom Power was on and it was.
It's being sent through a Mackie 24X8 Console into an HD-24. I have nothing, not even showing on the trim input LED as signal coming into the channel. If I move the mic, or gently jiggle it, the trim input signal light flashed very quick like its getting a signal for a brief moment.
Anyway, I switched to a Studio Projects B3 and did the recording.
Tonight I hooked up the RODES again into a different Channel on the board, using a different mic cable and using a different Phantom Power bank to supply the mic. SAME results.
Anyone have any ideas? Is there something in these mics that maybe come loose?
The seller wants nothing to do with trying to help, and took a shitty attitude right away. (go figure)
Anyway,,,any help would be appreciated. I am not afraid to take this puppy apart if I have to, but wanted to wait on maybe some advice first from you guys.
Thanks
AJ
