Hey all! :)

Heres my dilema. I bought Cakewalk Sonar 7.01 and have a Lexicon Omega interafce from awhile back. Im haveing a tough time getting them to work together. I called up Cakewalk and they were pretty much sure it was a driver issue. Not a problem. Download a new driver from Lexicon. I found out taht to update the driver, I would have to go into CTRL/ALT/DEL.... search for ASIOtray.exe and end it. Cool, I then updated the driver. Program worked good after that.

Unfortunatly, the otherday, I started my computer without the Omega plugged in adn low and behold it lost sync with the driver I guess. Cos when i plugged in the omega...lights out...couldn't find it. Even after restarting again.

Ive uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers several time. One time after uninstall, I reinstaled the first driver and went thru the scenario like the Lexicon people told me. Now Ive tried otherways.

No matter which way I try, if I go into AUDIO on Cakewalk my playback driver and my record driver are
OMEGA ASIO 1 and OMEGA ASIO2.

I get an error message saying that this unit isnt supported by cakewalk.

When I had everything going good my drivers were
PLayback: LEXICON USB ASIO OUTPUT 1/2
RECORD: LEXICON USB ASIO INPUT 1/2

any indeas?

windows xp...sp3, sonar 7.01 and an Lexicon Omega

:p thanks in advacne for any help!

hmm...are you using the omega as your primary playback as well? that is, anything played on your computer will play through the speakers/monitors that feed out of the omega? this is how mine is set up and i haven't had any problems (i use vegas, though). if you do that, it may side-step the whole issue together.

I'm using an Omega with SONAR Home Studio 6, and while my drivers appear the same way in Cakewalk's settings, IIRC things like those little dings when you get error messages and other alerts still play back through my computer's sound card. That indicates to me that Cakewalk is using the Omega as its in/out but that Windows is retaining control over the sound card in the computer.

Sometimes it helps to switch to WDM drivers with the Omega, restarting, then switching back to ASIO drivers and restarting again. I don't know why, though, I think it just gives the drivers a kick in the pants.

hey adam! Indeed, Im using the omega as my playback. As for you Brent, I have done the same thing with going to WDM and then back to ASIO. I did correct the problem a while ago when I ccontacted LEXICON.

it seems you cannot upgrade the driver to Omega 2.5 correctly without following these steps.

Go back to your original driver if you have an older one. Go into System Processes and look for a process called ASIOtray.exe. Close that application. The n you will be able to update the driver correctly and then you should be able to use the Omega without jumping around

What I noticed last night after I posted is that I uninstalled the unit and it wouldnt uninstall the driver. If i plug my unit back in to a USB afetr uninstalling...restarting the computer ...and coming backup... I dont get taht message about finding a USB device. Strange.

I was wondering if maybe there is a cheap interface that definatly works with Sonar 7, being i would like to upgrade to 8!:)

Each time my computer restarts, I have to troubleshoot to get the 1/2 and 3/4 ins and outs working properly.

It's simple really, although odd.

I just go to control panel, sounds/hardware devices, then I click them and click "troubleshoot" and then my system once again reads them. Sometimes when finding them in control panel, they're simply called "usb audio device," and sometimes it's called by its correct name (lexicon 1-2, etc.).

disable your computer audio sound card and use your external sound card as a primary sound card

Oh, and make sure you shut down cakewalk and only open it up AFTER THE TROUBLESHOOTING THINGY OCCURS.
