ghetto:

i'm not sure about the mpx100, but i can assure you that the microverb will annoy you. i have one and i hate it. you should really hold out until you can afford a lexicon mpx500 IMO. thats what i'm doing...

if you can't afford the mpx500, then i see no harm in suggesting the mpx100. i do not have any personal experience with it, BUT lexicon has made quite a name for themselves in the reverb game and alesis has NOT.

just my two cents - i am by no means an expert!

The MPX 100 doesn't seem to be considered good bang for the buck around here.. I've never used one personally. The other Lexicon reverb-units are popular tho.

I you are interested in the MPX 100 or 500, try to find a copy of the August 2001 "Electronic Musician" magazine. There is an article on both these units that will help you make the decision. I have two Lexicon units, an MPX1 and an MPX500 and think that they are both very good units.

I'm considering the Roland SRV 3030 over the MPX 100 as a
potential purchase.

Hi, I am selling a Roland SRV330 Dimensional Digital Reverb which destroys the nanoverb and mpx100 both!
The SRV330 Reverb has all the "world class" reverbs, gates, plates, etc. I know this rack mount has been since the late 90's, but so has the Lexicon PCM70 or 80, which are both still the most popular PRO reverbs in the world!
IMO, the SRV330 Reverb rivals the Pro Lexicons and just a fraction of the price of the one I'm selling. I mainly used it for getting Eric Johnson's reverb tone, It gets me there perfectly!
The unit is in excellent condition and the faceplate is perfect! Just the small scratches, etc around the screw hole area where you would attach to a rack, etc. 200.00 OBO. Thanks guys!

PS, to view a pic go to ebay and type "roland srv330 reverb"

There's also the lexicon MPX-200, From what i've heard there's a little more editing availible than the 100. But i'd hold out for the 500 myself.

I bought a mpx100...and it broke with about 5 hours of use on it. It just sat in our church rack, and we never really used it...but it did get powered up each week...It was over a year old, so no warrenty. I called Lexicon, they wanted $89 just to look at it...hell the price of a new one looked more attractive. What happened is all the lights stayed on, and nothing worked. I didn't find the unit that especially flexible, and it sounded ok thru the PA speakers, but certainly nothing to rave about. I also was interested in it being dual mono, but then the parameters became extremely limiting. Plus...ya have to have the manual to use all the settings to their full advantage..definately a pain there. ...or at least until you memorize a couple of things....but certainly not new out of the box. I won't buy another one. BTW, this broken one is for sale to the first *resonable* offer!!:D

I have the MXP1 and love it . I recommend going to guitar center they havve a 30 day no questions asked return policy .Take stuff home try it out . I bought my MPX1 from guitar center for $650 with a AKG C3000B free!!! I don't believe there is a better deal out there right now.

No.

The 100 does not have the flexibility as the 500 or the MP1. Nor are its effect algorithms, which are only adjustable in .7-.9 increments.
At least the Beh Virtualizer is adjustable to .5 increments.

The Lexicon MPX 200 is a big step up from my Alesis nanoverb!
(like it's a surprise)
For the more sophisticated user than myself, I'd say go for the MPX 500
because of the greater editing, especially if you're a pro musician or
project studio owner.
For someone like me though who just like to "tweak" a bit it's fine.
The MPX 100 seems too limited on editing and the sound quality is not
as good.

I have both the lexicon 100 and 500 and I think they both suck!! I just bought an older yamaha rev7..very nice. Try to find one used on ebay..they go for about 300-350 used.

if you cant afford the pcm80 or a nice lexicon, get the roland srv3030. it's an AMAZING unit. in my opinion, its as good as the mpx500, and a lot of people have compared these two units togehter.

the 3030 is highly editable and you can save like 1000 patches on smart media which is handly. balanced i/o aswell:-)
