Hi,
I am setting up a mix in Sonar 6. I have recorded a drum part. Levels are around -10 or so on each individual track. The main bus is notching a bit into the red when summed (in the box). Is it best for me to lower the levels (the trim) of each track a few db and have the main levels around -6db?
Thanks
Scott.

yeah...you're mixing too hot...group the drum tracks volume and bring down to anywhere from -6 to -10 depending on the other elements of the mix.

I try and keep things a biot low...this gives you some headroom to work with. Good place to start. Drop every track a few db, and mix it up some...see how it sounds. It's easy to bring it back up a little later....but tough to drop it once it distorts.
