fun thread! :D

I dig it jeap.. I like your lava lamp flow.. don't like the pitch shifted voice, but anything I would complain about would probably be preference..

diggable..

BTW - I would choose 97% accuracy.. ;)

ha ha ha lava lamp. am i living in the past? i always wanted a lava lamp! i used to have a clock that was a peace sign!

i want to do metal sometime but im not feeling it yet. i always liked "iron man" and "paranoid" and "godzilla" and stuff like that!

Hey Jeap,
A whole shitload of fun here. .....cool song. ....and very cool vocs. Lotsa room for a funky bassline in there......

great stuff, G

thanks g.

strangely this is the same bass played with the same thumb through the same amp mic settings etc and its not pure mud like the last thing!

how this happened? i dont know.

i wonder what you would put to this kind of thing!

:)

pretty dull this one.. falling asleep vocals, and a too loud guitar. Feels like 15 minutes after 3 minutes..

do you like acoustic folk?

:)

The beginning drum part sounds totally like "Fucking in the Bushes" by Oasis. The song name made me think I was in for some Will Smith. Fortunately not :D

This tune is more porn than Ron Jeremy. Perfect for that kind of stuff. I guess it's the wah. You didn't write this sober, did you? :D This is just too funky. The mix isn't perfect, but I don't know what's wrong with it. I guess the general sound sounds kinda unbalanced. Like some of the sounds and effects don't fit the thing. But still, the song grooves like hell.

thanks man!!!

completely sober!!!!

i quit drinking and illegal drugs and even smoking and all that stuff!

for smoking i got hypnotized.

im not saying i would never SMOKE WEED again... i think it should be legal and inexpensive!

I KNOW WHATS WRONG WITH IT NOW!!! ITS TOO DENSE AND BASS HEAVY. TOO MUCH BOTTOM. NOT ENOUGH AIR. NOT ENOUGH HIGHS. THERES NO SUBTLETY TO THE MIX. THE LEVELS REMAIN CONSTANT THROUGH THE WHOLE THING.

BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.

ITS NOT THE RECORDING!

ITS THE STRATEGY!

HOW DO I KNOW THIS? BECAUSE I FINALLY COMPARED MY CRAP TO COMMERCIAL CD'S!!!!

DUH!!!!

"Thin-sound, mids-completely-sucked-out, inconsistent timing/performance, track balances are irregular"

Okay, the above is what somebody ELSE (who shall remain nameless) said. :D

I can't say that I totally disagree with it, but I'm not getting "thin" on this end. I'm getting HUGE lows. You did mix the vocal well, but it sounds totally bottomed UP. Have you tried rolling off a lot from the overall mix from about 250Hz down? It might open it up some.

Oh yeah, my 2 year old just TURNED IT WAY UP...which is a thumbs up from him, but also a pretty good indication that there's too much low end. He only does that on songs that I've mixed with too much low end. Have you tried comparing your tunes to commercial CD's that you like?

fun tune, as always jeap.

Bass; Part II

Hey Jeap...I was just readin' yer words on WATYF's thread about reverb, and I saw that you put verb on the bass. That may be contributing to what I'm hearing on this tune and on your last tune. God knows I'm not much for rules, and I suck, BUT, I have read somewhere (other than here) that verb on a bass causes problems...and to stick with a mild chorus if you're gonna' FX it (which sounds even scarier to me that reverb, but I distinctly remember that). Now, in COUNTRY music, verb on a kick is an absolute no no...I don't know what the "rules" are elsewhere.

just a thought.

i just a/b'ed my crap with commercial cd's today!

look at my other thread for details!

im changing everything.

nothing will ever be the same.

the reverb on the bass is a room reverb and then maybe the big reverb if it seems to smooth it out some but thats all changing.

3M often says he likes the bass to "run together" a little. we dont like stacatto bass. we like a smooth flowing kind of bass.

we dont know what our bass is going to sound like now but everything is going to be different!

theres just way too much bottom and too loud bottom on this piece of crap and theres not enough highs or air.

:)

Jeap...go easy on yourself, man. You're starting to sound like BlueBear

:D

There's one important difference between him and I -- *I* know what I'm doing when I get behind a console.......

Hey MoronHead: You're really starting to piss me off. I was in NY this week, and I should have kicked your ass while I was there.

hey man ,.i kinda liked it myself!thought it sounded like beck doing jim morrisson with ted nugent on guitar.(and thats a good thing)the only real prob with this is th at u need to play the guitar parts with a tube amp.
all in all a good tune

thanks and i hear ya about the tube amps. i got 2 but the vg88 is just so much easier and less noisy.

im trying to work on the recording side right now but i do plan on using the amps soon to see if the tone improves or what. one thing about the amps is i can get hendrix style feedback!

hey i put up a slightly doctored version! i used the graphic EQ in soundforge to roll off some lows and ramp up some highs. should be a little easier to listen to!

:)
