I'm jealous too. Bear - I'd appreciate 97% accuracy on my next post. Even if you tear me a new one.
jeap - I though it was a pretty cool song. As usual, you have a gem line here and there. Liked the lead guitar sound.
Am I reading too much into this or am I the only one who noticed... Chubby Checker had a hit with "The Twist". A year or so later he had another single titled something like "Twist Again" which had lines similar to the "2nd Jiggy". Intentional?

"Get up offa that big fat beefy whitebread thing..."
You gotta love that...
It's sort of an interesting juxtaposition, such urban phrasing sung by someone, so, well, caucasian sounding.It's ironic, considering the lyrical content.
I don't mean that as a slam, just an observation. The progression is standard 12 bar blues, and the melodic theme is essentially your standard blues riff off the sharp 9th, so we can't really comment much there, so we'll talk about production.
Frankly, it's a little cluttered. Then again, so was most 70s funk/disco/early rap so I guess that's OK. But, the drums were a tad uneven, the quantization on the ride at the beginning didn't match the kick quantization. Once the main groove kicks in, it smooths out. Nice lead work; and it's balanced well with everything too.
Not really my thang, genre-wise but I can certainly appreciate what you were shooting for. Sly Stone would have liked the wah wah.
Cheers!

Has this song really been here for 5 years?King Elvis said:ok ok I asked this question about 5 years ago and couldnt get an answer...what the hell is jiggy
boydrj said:Let's Get Jiggy Again! How cool to write a sequel to a homerec hit song! I really like the groove you have going!
All of your stuff is very interesting. I actually saw this post last night, but had to go ... I couldn't wait to listen today because I knew it was going to be something cool, and it doesn't dissapoint!
I like the vibe you have going. It sounds like you are just having fun. Mixwise sounds okay to me. Great 70's flashback there.
Keep it up!![]()
mixmkr said:wow....after reading thru all the posts, and even stepping in some bear shit, this was nothing that I was expecting. I guess the closest comment was made about some blues.. I couldn't 'hear' the Hendrix stuff...or even the Nugent stuff...which admittedly sucked me right in for a listen. The lead sound reminds me of some of the old "Bubble Puppie"....remember them?
Kinda a frat, dance song....you know...like "Animal House"... people doing the "Crock-i-dile"
jiggy....that's a new term to me too!
g-day.
song = 7
recording = 6
playing = 6.3
fun factor = 9
bear trap = 10

Yeah, a lot of people begged him to stay but he's one of those people who doesnt mince words and when he says he's gonna do something,he's gonna do it...I doubt he ever came back to read the posts to him in that thread....maybe he'll catch the recording bug again someday soon....he does need something like a simple porta studio to work with instead of computer based stuff....I dont even fiddle with the computer stuff...I use a stand alone unit similar to what you use.....computer recording just adds a level of stress to the process for me that I dont need!![]()
Maybe one day I'll be able to tackle some of the mastering/tweaking software etc...I know it would help my mixes a lot.

Interesting recording. The song didn't really do anything for me, but maybe I'm just too white.
