This was a bit of a tough mix, as the tune goes through all sorts of gyrations in its run time of roughly 2:35 ...

Lesson in Life

Thanks for the help and the listen!

Best,

Sounds pretty good to me, Kev...vocals are the main focus, and seem to carry through well. I hear all the music, and it seems to be mixed in a way that meshes well in this tune. No holes, and no murky sounds.

I got nothing...it sounds pretty good to me. Maybe someone else will have some better stuff for ya....
I don't listen to this style of music too much, but on the second listen, the kick seems out of place. More of a rock sound, and not as smooth sounding for this tune. Good click, but maybe a bit more of a boom sound here???

My only nit, and it may not mean anything.

Well sung as always man...very spot on.

Sounds pretty good to me. Maybe I'd bring the snare out a little tiny bit more. Sounds good overall.

Hey bud - It's funny you mention the kick. I started w/ a really flabby kick ... all lows, major push of air ... but I think there was a little too much low -- combined w/ Tjarko's bass ... just clouded the space up, and I couldn't get much else through.

So I swapped voicings, and went with something a little more balanced ... maintaining SOME of the low push, but leaving enough room for T's bass to come through.

Tjarko does all the BGV's here too ... and after I got them in, they became 'bout my favorite element to the arrangement.

Thanks for the listen/suggestions!

Hey Greg,

I hate mixing w/ a stick and snare. I can NEVER seem to get them to sit right and play nice. As is, I've volume enveloped the snare top/bottom tracks to death. I may bring the snare up just a hair, but no more than half a db. I actually came down a bit from an earlier version, as it poked through way too much.

Thanks for the listen!

Best,

Thanks DAS19, I appreciate your listening, and opinion.

I'm always forgetting to check back here ...

Based on some good suggestions, I posted up a new mix ...

Thanks!

It sounds pretty good! You lead vocals sound really good, but I would bring them down just a tad. It seems to overpower the other instruments. Just a small quibble though because it does sound good.
