Greg and I have big money riding on this.

It was a "made for TV colour" when the white they used would glare too much under TV lights. Apparently a lot of TV stuff on the old black and white shows was yellow for that reason. Yes it was and is a specific Gibson colour.

Yes it was and is a specific Gibson colour.

Oh nice dodge, friend. How much is Greg paying you? I know damn well it is an official Gibson color (and I also know the history of it's origin thank you very much) but it was never - I'm getting bold now when I repeat never - issued officially on any "regular" Les Paul; Model, Standard, Custom, whatever - other than the Les Paul Junior. It also showed up on Melody Makers I believe.

(This is mostly tongue in cheek obviously but I'm not 100% sure - let's say 99.4% - and I'd love to find out otherwise. Plus a little troll-deflection never hurts. Be a shame when this whole thread gets wiped but what the hell...

this is by no means sound advice, but i believe there was an old mythical way of removing the finish of a guitar by pouring flammable liquid and setting it on fire as an offering. =)

I have heard of a heat gun technique. BTW, can you please be specific about your claim about what I was wrong about? Was it the powder?
