I listened to 'New piece'. Not superkeen on the drum sound but the guitars are great. Nice riffs. Bit short though, sounds like an intro for something

Thanks Bulls for listening. :) I appreciate your input.

Well, you being a drummer (a super cool drum banging drummer) will of course find my drum sounds a bit lacking. :D. I found a "Funk" beat in FLStudio package and used the FL Slicer to slice the beat and make up the fills and all. I was kind of digging that original drum sound that got me going in this direction.

Others have mentioned that drum sound also. I might change it. It is primarily the snare or the overall?

The track will of course be more than this. But thus far I've only had the talent to compose this much.

Don't get me wrong, the drums sound is not terrible. It's just the snare seems sort of flat and 1-dimensional. It's great when a sounds gets you going though.

Maybe try augmenting the snare with a 2nd sample

Thanks dude. :) I'll try remove the augmentative "clap" sound that I had used for the snare. Hehe, it sounded pretty cool without but I thought I'd add a techno clap sound to double as the snare sound. :)
 
Yeah,
get rid of the clap (penicillin?) & the drums will fit better - though the cymbal/hi hat? sound is a bit iffy too.
This is a good beginning though. the riff is meaty & the build up is effective.

I agree there is a good foundation here to build on...love the guitar ...nice riffage going on!
 
Good start Bubba....I agree with alot that has been said already....nice guitars, and great progression. Drums aren't ad, but some changes would really bring this to life more. Cool to hear it move along....
 
Excellent melodic riffage going on bigbubba. Very cool arrangement with all the different guitar parts weaving into the mix. The first guitar seems to have bit too much reverb at the beginning. That seems to put it behind the drums a bit. But, that does suit it well when it is backing up guitar #2 so I'm not sure :confused: . Bit of an eastern flair to this. I kinda like the snap on the drums - I'll check out the remix when it's up to see how they change....

Its a cool tune. I agree with the rest, the snare doesnt fit and there is too much reverb on that geetar. I find the tune dark and halloweenish, a more heavy metal drum sound would be killa on this. The tune itself is very inventive and tres cool. :)
 
Got nothin that ain't been said......great start though, really like the guitars!!!

ido1957 - Thanks for listening and commenting. I'm glad you like it. I'm a verb addict, I guess. :D I'll see if I can remove some of the verb and retain the feel. It sounds interesting and like a mix of different guitar to you. Hehe, it ususually is something done in bits and pieces and on different days to where sometime I'm using a different key and I actually feel that gives me less than pro quality on the arrangement. But hey if most people like it, then it's cool. :)

DavidK - Thanks for listening and commenting. Glad you like it. Dark? Well a little. I was going for that. Halloweenish? I hope not that freaky. Just good old rock 'n roll guitar-with-a-guitar type of sound. The drums will be replaced. Will find a metal soundfont.

Thanks all. Been trying to force some creativity and write something. Haven't decided if I've come up with the next 16 measures or is it just something that will be deleted.

Cool stuff! Got to agree about the darkness. There's a low resonance throughout. Nothing a little eq can't fix.
