I have a a folder of sampled music/beats/sound/speach/poetry that I have been throwing stuff into for the last couple of years. It is the best thing I have ever collected, because the more stuff accumulates in there, the more fun you can have with trying to throw unusual things on top of each other when you're bored.

I was bored last night...

Its called 'Ten Years Wrong'

The lyrics here are stolen from a poem that alot of people who are into hiphop will recognise. The guitar is courtesy of Jimmy Page...please don't tell him ! I'm sorry if I upset any Zeppelin fans, I am actually a fan of alot of their recordings myself.

Here are the lyrics :

A butterfly floats on the breeze of a sun lit day
As I feel this reality gently fade away
Riding on a thought to see where it's from
Gliding through a memory of a time yet to come
Smoke paints the air
Swirling images through my mind
Like a whirlpool spin beginning to unwind
And I stand at the edge cautiously awaiting
As time slips by
Carefully navigating by the stars in the sky
And I sit
And I think to myself
And on the horizon the sun light begins to climb
And it seems like it's been so long since he shined
But I'm sure it was only yesterday

A cold chill of fear cut through me
I felt my heart contract
To my mind I brought the image of light
And I expanded out of it
My fear was just a shadow
And then I voice spoke in my head
And she said dark is not the opposite of light
It's the absence of light
And I thought to myself
She knows what she's talking about
And for a moment I knew...
What it was all about.

Not really looking for any mix comments, I can't afford to pay for that sample anyway so I won' t be persuing the idea. Just thought it sounded interesting.

Blasphemy, They Cried!

How dare you butcher & post a Zep tune here. ;) :D

I'll download it, give it a listen, & report on back to ya.

Pretty Cool.

Nothing Zep about it to me, though...

The Vocals could have come up a bit more, especially since it is a spoken vocal.
The drums could have come down a bit, but good sound out of the machine.
Where was the sample stolen from? I couldn't tell.

Nice bit of poetry though..Enjoyed it.

The guitar is from 'Ten Years Gone', which is on 'Physical Graffiti' I believe. The poem is actually written by....wait for it.....The Beastie Boys !

Yeah the drums are a bit loud. I was trying to get snippets of a Jimmy Page solo on there...maybe that bit from 'Whole Lotta Love' where there is nothing playing but the screaming wah solo for a few seconds, but I couldn't get anything to fit the key AND the tempo.

Oh well.

Thanks anyway,

I kinda dug it. Ditto DJ's comments on vox levels. That is one of my favorite Zep riffs from "the little known songs".

This style of music is pretty foreign to me, but I was wanting some kind of change-up, either throw it into a different key or a whole new progression somewhere. Is that just me?

Yeah it needs a change. I don't know if it will get one because I am in the middle of two different projects at the moment, and that was just a bit of fun really, to get the creative juices flowing:). I like your taste though, that is one of my favourite Zep songs also...although any live version I've heard really sucked big time. I'll fix those levels though and repost it in a couple days.
